A quick update today. Four out of the eight crewmen I have for my Oathmark Ballista are Dark Elves. As the elven crew are also likely to make the Ballista into an elite artillery unit (especially when compared to the Goblin crewed option) they are likely to get fielded fairly often.
So, when selecting which crew to paint up as the first ‘easy project’, the elves came quickly to the front of the queue. With simple chainmail shirts, and steel helmets, there was an awful lot of metallic paint on these boys. Sadly, I also have an old pot of elf grey as well. Grey skinned elves, in silvered armour, with white hair! Not everyones first choice I am sure. With a hint of blue though…

Nice. I think that a darker armour would have contrasted more with the grey skin, but on the other hand I think it makes the ballista show up better.

You are likely right. A darker armour colour would have probably been a better contrast. Maybe one day I will give it a darker ink wash (who am I trying to kid…):-)
